Health

If you don’t have your Health

Our health and mental health system is in crisis. Under the Victorian Labor Government our needs have been ignored. Albury Wodonga Health is the largest health service outside of Melbourne, second only to Geelong. Instead of committing to the Master Plan recommendations for a new greenfield hospital, we are treated as second class citizens with a “Mickey Mouse” redevelopment at Albury Base.

Education

Building our future generation

Higher education and workmanship should be cultivated and nurtured close to home. With programs investing in the opening of new schools and upgrading legacy ones, we can keep our youth close to home, in a place where they want to raise their families in the future.

Environment

Protecting our natural resources

We are the custodians of this land and I believe people in Benambra, perhaps more than most, share a passion to manage, preserve and protect the environment. It’s a unique asset and one we cannot afford to waste.

Roads

Connecting our community

With more than 10,000 square kilometres in the electorate, our roads and bridges are integral to our way of life. Whether it is getting produce to markets, taking the kids to school, or commuting from home to work each day, our roads and bridges must be safe, reliable, and the best they can possibly be.

Police

Protecting our community

It is imperative that the police force which allows us to feel safe and protected, has all it needs to perform its functions and roles as effectively and efficiently as possible.
This includes timely response to calls for assistance, appropriate equipment and staff. It also extends to the provision, by government, of impactful and responsible legislation designed to assist police deliver their vital service to our community.

Emergency Services

Helping our citizens in crisis

Rural communities are proud of their emergency services, especially the CFA, SES, community ambulance, Red Cross, and St. John’s volunteers. Frontline police, ambulance, and health workers are crucial for our safety. Effective prevention, response, and recovery processes are essential to minimise the impact of emergencies and ensure timely, compassionate care for those affected.

Energy & Housing

Better for our environment

The transition to renewable energy must be carefully managed. We can’t allow our most vulnerable community members to be burdened with high power bills. And our grid must be able to adapt to the power pushed back into the system from rooftops. We need gas to manage that transition. Similarly, we need to reduce the cost of housing, cut the ridiculous impost of Victorian Government regulation and taxes that are contributing to homes being out of reach for many young people and that are driving investors in rental properties to move interstate. We also need to streamline planning processes to allow for the release of more blocks of land.
