On Tuesday night I called on the Minister for Water to fast-track planning and preparatory works for North East Water to meet the demands for water and sewerage in and around Wodonga, Wangaratta, Tangambalanga, Bright and Mount Beauty. Some of the projects that take away sewage and others to deliver drinking water to existing and planned residential developments are already four years past the date they were needed according to documents in my possession.
I know water authority is aware of the issues and accept that they have assured me that they can get this back on track but anything that may delay or even stop the creation of building blocks will impact housing costs, jobs and growth. We need to make sure the water authority has all the resources it needs to get this done sooner rather than later.
