Today, Transport Minister, Ben Carroll, has slapped down new the Health Minister over Labor’s secret plan for new restrictions and mandates.
Speaking on radio and television yesterday, Minister for Health, Mary-Anne Thomas confirmed the Department of Health was actively modelling new COVID restrictions including mandatory indoor face-masks and work from home orders, stating:
“The public health team are looking at modelling and they’re consulting with their colleagues and various ideas are floated but no ideas have been taken.”
“I’m receiving advice not just from the health team but from my colleagues about the next steps under the pandemic declaration.”
Despite this admission, Minister Ben Carroll has today claimed that the Andrews Labor Government is “not considering mandates or lockdowns.”
Within 24 hours, Labor has admitted it is modelling and considering new restrictions, only to then claim its isn’t.
Shadow Minister for Health, Georgie Crozier, said mixed messages on lockdowns, mandates and new restrictions are not the path to recovery.
“Two days and two very different messages from Labor – are more mandates coming or aren’t they? Victorians deserve a straight answer.”
“Victorians need clarity, certainty and confidence to recover and rebuild – but are getting none of that from the Andrews Labor Government.”
“Only a Matthew Guy Liberals and Nationals Government will safely support communities to move forward without Labor’s endless emergency powers.”
