Confirmation that not a single invoice has been issued to Victorian returned travellers is the latest failure of Daniel Andrews’ botched hotel quarantine program.
Despite more than 10 weeks passing since the recommencement of hotel quarantine and more than 16,000 guests entering the program, not a single invoice has been issued.
Fees for hotel quarantine were always an afterthought for the Andrews Labor Government, who only passed legislation to enable the charging of fees after the first returned travellers had arrived.
This failure is the latest in a growing list of basic and dangerous errors which continue to occur in Labor’s hotel quarantine program, including:
It is now clear Daniel Andrews has failed to learn the lessons of his catastrophic first hotel quarantine program and exposed taxpayers to picking up the bill for yet another quarantine failure.
“How can anyone have confidence in Daniel Andrews’ ability to run hotel quarantine when he can’t even get issuing an invoice right?”
“With more than five months to plan and 10 weeks since the first international arrivals, it beggars belief that returned travellers haven’t yet been sent a single bill.
“Daniel Andrews’ relaunched hotel quarantine is Victoria’s own Faulty towers that has gone from bad to worse having triggered a dangerous outbreak, caused a billion dollar lockdown and now left Victorian taxpayers exposed to tens of millions of dollars in unpaid fees.”Shadow Minister for Police & Community Safety David Southwick
