Labor’s dodgy $1.7 million “fair share” advertising campaign, conducted during the federal election campaign, was nothing more than a blatant abuse of Victorians’ money to help put Bill Shorten in the Lodge.
In an unprecedented move, the IBAC and Ombudsman have jointly written to the Premier calling for legislative change to stop this type of taxpayer funded partisan campaigning from happening again.
Daniel Andrews has failed to introduce legislation to stop this rort happening again, so in the absence of the Government acting, the Liberal Nationals will.
This week in the Victorian Parliament, the Liberal Nationals introduced legislation to ensure that Labor’s misuse of taxpayers’ money on partisan advertising campaigns can never happen again.
Whether it’s Labor’s Red Shirts Rort Scheme or the misuse of parliamentary allowances by the former Labor Speaker and Deputy Speaker, or Labor Minister’s chauffeuring their dogs around in taxpayer funded cars, this arrogant and out of touch Government has no respect for taxpayers’ money.
Comments attributable to Shadow Attorney General, Edward O’Donohue:
“Daniel Andrews’ misuse of taxpayer money must be stopped and our legislation will tighten the rules around government advertising and do just that.
“Victorians work hard, and all governments must ensure taxpayers’ money is spent wisely, prudently and responsibly.”
