SHADOW Minister for Sport, Danny O’Brien, and State Member for Ferntree Gully, Nick Wakeling, today announced that an elected Liberal Nationals Government will provide $600,000 to upgrade local sporting ovals and facilities across Knox.
Dozens of local sporting clubs across Knox will benefit from upgrades to ovals, change rooms, scoreboards, lighting, and shelters at twelve sites around the electorate.
Each of the following reserves in Knox will receive $50,000 to undertake minor upgrades under an elected Liberal Nationals Government:
The upgrades can help improve accessibility for local residents and sportspersons of varying abilities, as well as making facilities more inclusive for women and children.
Unlike Daniel Andrews who has decided to give a massive $225 million of taxpayers’ money to the AFL to upgrade Etihad Stadium, the Liberal Nationals are getting behind cash-strapped local sporting clubs who desperately need our support.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Sport, Danny O’Brien:
“Nick Wakeling is a great advocate for local sporting clubs in Knox.
“The Liberal Nationals will support local sports, unlike Daniel Andrews who wants to give free kicks to the AFL to the tune of $225 million.”
Comments attributable to Member for Ferntree Gully, Nick Wakeling:
“These grants are about opening up more opportunities for local Knox residents to get involved in grassroots sports and activities, get outdoors, and enjoy our vibrant green spaces.
“Also, by encouraging more women, children, and people of varying abilities to participate, we create more connected communities, which leads to a happier and healthier lifestyle for everyone.”
