Country Victorians will continue to use old rolling stock that is slow, unreliable and often without air-conditioning because Daniel Andrews doesn’t think they deserve better, says Shadow Minister for Public Transport David Davis.
Daniel Andrews has failed to match the commitment made by Matthew Guy that a Liberal Nationals Government would commit $633 million to replace our ageing regional fleet with new VLocity style trains.
Instead of replacing old trains, Daniel Andrews wants to keep them operating on regional train lines.
These trains should be in a museum, not on the tracks as part of a refurbishment program.
This decision to keep the old rattlers rolling is a slap in the face for every country Victorian.
Only a Liberal Nationals Government will give regional Victorian faster, more comfortable and more reliable public transport.
Quotes attributable to the Shadow Minister for Public Transport, David Davis MP:
“The Liberal Nationals will get regional Victoria moving again with faster, more comfortable and more reliable trains.
“Daniel Andrews thinks that regional Victorians deserve old, slow and broken trains – well we disagree with him.
“There is a clear choice for regional Victorians between more of the same second best treatment from Daniel Andrews or a Matthew Guy government that will give them the new trains they deserve.”
