Victoria’s Unemployment Worst in the Nation – Again

Victoria’s jobs crisis is continuing with latest ABS jobs figures showing Victoria leads the nation in unemployment for the second consecutive month, says Shadow Treasurer Michael O’Brien.

Victoria’s unemployment rate of 6 per cent is the highest of all the states and higher than the national average of 5.5 per cent.

New South Wales, our northern neighbour and economic competitor, has the country’s lowest unemployment rate at 4.6 per cent.

Under Labor, Victoria’s unemployment rate has exceeded the national average for 13 consecutive months.

With the Andrews Labor government giving Victoria the highest tax burden in the nation and the largest number of days lost through strikes, it is no wonder our jobs figures are the worst in Australia.
