CFA bill should go to the election

On Friday another Independent MP confirmed they will be opposing the CFA legislation in the Upper House meaning the bill is unlikely to pass.

Quotes attributable to Shadow Minister for Emergency Services Brad Battin: 

Daniel Andrews must now take his plan to tear up the CFA to the election.

Daniel Andrews needs a mandate to make these changes to the CFA and the way our state’s emergency services work.

It is now clear that the community and CFA volunteers do not support Daniel Andrews’ radical overhaul of our world renowned fire service.

We are yet to see any evidence about how this split of the CFA and relegation of volunteers will improve the safety of Victorians.

The recent CFA Parliamentary Inquiry raised significant concerns about the action of Government officials and lack of consultation with firefighters.

On the eve of the next fire season, this is not the time to force through changes that could risk lives and property.
