Another delay in tackling power hikes

Yesterday’s review into the retail energy market makes one thing clear: the Victorian energy market continues to become more unaffordable and confused under Daniel Andrews, says Shadow Energy Minister David Southwick.

Energy prices are soaring, forcing too many Victorians to go to bed cold and hungry.

When power prices soared by 10 per cent from 1 January 2017 due to the impending closure of Hazelwood, the Labor Energy Minister told Victorians to “shop around”.  How can Victorians shop around when the market is so confusing?

If Daniel Andrews was serious about energy affordability for Victorian households and businesses, he wouldn’t have forced the closure of the Hazelwood Power Station with no backup plan.

Daniel Andrews’ needs to act immediately on power prices instead of pointing the finger and hoping the Federal Government will fix his energy affordability mess.

A Liberal Nationals Government will never put ideology before people unlike Daniel Andrews.
