Taxes up by 20% but no State money to improve education outcomes

DANIEL Andrews has now announced 10 new taxes with an overall tax increase of 20% but hasn’t found any money to improve education standards and outcomes, says Shadow Minister for Education Nick Wakeling.

Daniel Andrews had a chance in today’s budget to show he’s more focused on outcomes by scrapping funding for the radical Safe Schools program but he failed.

While our children’s education standards continue to fall, Daniel Andrews has failed in this budget to make the necessary investments and instead is sitting on his surplus so he can go on a vote buying spree in next year’s election.

Instead, it’s the Turnbull Government that is today showing some leadership to improve Victorian schools and see improvements in the quality of education our children receive.

Daniel Andrews must ensure that this extra federal funding results in significant improvements to education standards and outcomes in Victoria.

Daniel Andrews has been too focused on politicising our schools with radical ideological studies instead of making sure our kids are getting a solid education on the basics to prepare them for the future.
