Melbourne Airport Rail Link

Shadow Minister for Public Transport, David Hodgett

Reports today that Melbourne Airport is experiencing a significant growth in passenger numbers is more evidence that we need to build a rail link to the airport before the costs become prohibitive.
The former Napthine Government had a funded plan to build this much needed rail infrastructure but it was canned by Daniel Andrews.
Daniel Andrews likes to talk about taking the politics out of infrastructure when in fact he is the master of playing politics with infrastructure.
It was Daniel Andrews who tore up the East West Link contract costing taxpayers $1.2 billion, it was Daniel Andrews that gave safe Labor seats the cheap and nasty Sky Rail but the marginal seats the more expensive rail under roads option, and it was Daniel Andrews that tore up the plans for the airport rail link.
It’s time for Daniel Andrews to put this project back on the table so all parties can work together to support this important infrastructure.
