Shadow Minister for Energy and Resources, David Southwick
Lily D’Ambrosio told Victorians that Labor would increase the solar feed-in tariff “by approximately 20 per cent” to 6.5c-7c per kilowatt hour from the current 5 c/kWh. However today the Minister has caved into Green pressure, more than doubling the rate to 11.3 c/kWh
According to St Vincent De Paul Society, Victorians are facing $300 extra for their average annual household energy bills due to Daniel Andrews reckless energy policies including the forced closure of Hazelwood. This will be worsened by Labor’s new ‘environmental and social value’ fee that will slug non-solar customers the hardest.
According to the Grattan Institute, non-solar customers in Australia will spend more than $14 billion subsidising households with solar through their power bills because of overly generous feed-in tariffs.
Despite the Grattan Institute warning governments not to repeat this “policy mess”, Daniel Andrews and his Minister are refusing to listen.
The future of solar is through battery storage and community distribution, not making non-solar customers pay higher energy bills
Daniel Andrews promised to govern for all Victorians, but his divisive decisions to force cost of living pressures up for the sake of trying to win back Green votes says otherwise.
