Shadow Treasurer, Michael O’Brien
Background
In a desperate bid to prop up the failed Back to Work scheme, the Andrews Government threw $62,700 of taxpayer money on propaganda.
Reports today of new information from a Public Accounts and Estimates Committee hearing show that Labor had paid the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VECCI) to promote the now abandoned scheme.
The scheme was axed in July 2016 – eleven months early – after cost blow outs and allegations of rorting.
Attributable to Shadow Treasurer Michael O’Brien:
It is wrong for Labor to use taxpayers’ money to buy support for its failed ‘Back to Work’ scheme.
Business groups should be watchdogs on government waste. That’s difficult when they are paid $62,000 by the Andrews Labor government to promote a failing program.
Clearly, Daniel Andrews and his hopeless Treasurer have no respect for the Victorian tax dollars they so freely throw around.
