Shadow Minister for Corrections, Edward O’Donohue
In PAEC today it was confirmed that the Melbourne Remand Centre riot was the worst in Victoria’s history with 26 WorkCover claims and the damage to the facility costing taxpayers $95 million.
The hearings also revealed that of the 26 WorkCover claims, 17 remain active. Some of those affected returned to work only to have to take leave again to fully recover.
It is of enormous concern to learn that there was one incident of an officer’s personal details being breached and was displayed on a prison wall in graffiti.
Once again Daniel Andrews’ soft touch on law and order has cost Victorian taxpayers dearly.
