Shadow Treasurer, Michael O’Brien
Daniel Andrews is now the highest taxing Premier in Victoria’s history.
In only two years, the Andrews Government has hauled in an extra $3.7 billion in tax revenue from Victorians.
The ratio of tax to gross state product sits at 5.5%, up from 4.8% at the last election.
And proving once and for all that the Andrews Government’s first priority is to look after Labor’s mates, the public sector wages bill has spiked by $1.72 billion over the forward estimates.
Despite rising tax revenues, Victoria’s surplus has also been slashed by more than $1 billion this year while debt is forecast to soar by $3.1 billion.
Daniel Andrews and Tim Pallas’ Budget Update was out of date before it was even released with no mention of its multi-billion dollar “announcements” on a North East Link or additional police numbers.
This is a typical Labor Budget that hits Victorians with more tax, more debt and unfunded promises.
After two years in Government, all Daniel Andrews has delivered to Victorians is higher taxes, bigger electricity bills, higher myki prices and bigger water bills.
Daniel Andrews should be less worried about checking Tim Pallas’ mobile phone and more worried about checking his calculator because it is clearly broken.
