Shadow Minister for Training, Skills and Apprenticeships, Steph Ryan
Background
A letter sent to Daniel Andrews from Victorian university heads has revealed Labor’s attempt to handpick people for leadership roles, without consent from universities.
Appointments to Victoria’s university councils were finalised with former Minister for Training and Skills Steve Herbert and scheduled to go to a Cabinet meeting this afternoon.
But Chancellors wrote to the Premier after these appointments were dumped and new names put forward – without consultation and with no input from the universities themselves to ensure selected individuals had the correct skill set for the job.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Training, Skills and Apprenticeships Steph Ryan
Daniel Andrews’ move to bully Victoria’s universities into removing highly-regarded people from their councils, in favour of Labor’s union mates, is outrageous.
Daniel Andrews is putting his political friends first and Victorian students last.
The letter is a scathing indictment of Gayle Tierney just weeks into her job.
