Shadow Minister for Community Safety, Edward O’Donohue
Background:
The previous Coalition Government provided $600,000 over four years to support Neighbourhood Watch.
Daniel Andrews failed to renew this funding and the CEO resigned, leaving the organisation with limited resources to run and co-ordinate programs and community safety initiatives.
Comments attributable to Edward O’Donohue, Shadow Minister for Community Safety:
“Unlike Daniel Andrews the Liberal Nationals Coalition understands the important role that local community organisations can play in responding to crime and issues of community safety.
“Despite experiencing a crime tsunami with many in the community living in fear, Daniel Andrews cut funding to the respected and proven Neighbourhood Watch.
“An elected Liberal Nationals Coalition will partner with Neighbourhood Watch and provide $2M over four years to fund locally based crime prevention initiatives and central head office co-ordination.
“Neighbourhood Watch and its hardworking volunteers have served the community for decades and deserve our support.”
