Shadow Minister for Health, Mary Wooldridge
It’s becoming clear that on the night of the Thunderstorm Asthma attack, Minister Jill Hennessy was more focused on watching television than the unfolding health emergency.
In Question Time today, the minister was invited to confirm that on the evening of Monday 21 November she was in contact with the Chief Executive of Ambulance Victoria, the Chief Health Officer or the Chief Executives from our major hospitals. All the minister had to do was to simply say ‘yes’, but instead she avoided answering the question.
Jill Hennessy also failed to confirm whether on the evening of the Thunderstorm Asthma attack, she spoke to the State Health and Medical Commander about issuing an emergency health warning that could have helped save lives.
Jill Hennessy and her office could dismiss all concerns about her handling of this issue by releasing a detailed chronological timeline of her actions that evening – who she spoke to and at what times.
