Shadow Minister for Energy and Resources, David Southwick
There are reports today that fresh from her successful closure of Hazelwood, Lily D’Ambrosio is set to appoint her Labor-left mate Simon Corbell as a taxpayer funded “Renewable Energy Advocate” to campaign for the closure of the Portland Aluminium Smelter.
Just days ago, Victorians were told to expect a 10% hike in their electricity prices as a result of Daniel Andrews’ campaign to close Hazelwood, after they had been promised only a 4% hike by Daniel Andrews and Lily D’Ambrosio.
Instead of trying to mitigate further price hikes, the Andrews Government’s response has been to hire a man with a long track record of campaigning for higher energy prices.
Not satisfied with scuttling thousands of Latrobe Valley jobs, Lily D’Ambrosio has now set her sights on hundreds more jobs in Western Victoria and potentially many thousands more after that.
It is clear that Daniel Andrews and Lily D’Ambrosio are more interested in one plum jobs for a factional mate than the future thousands of workers in Portland and the Latrobe Valley.
Every Victorian will rightly wonder whether they will be the next loser out of Daniel Andrews and Lily D’Ambrosio’s ideological campaigns.
