Daniel Andrews, 21 May 2011:
“How will Mr Baillieu reach the 20% reduction target by 2020? He’s abandoned the staged closure of Hazelwood.”

Lily D’Ambrosio, 11 May 2011:
“Mr Baillieu’s decision to keep Hazelwood fully operating is disgraceful. Our state must be looking at ways to lower our dependence on brown coal and finding new ways to generate energy. Partially shutting Hazelwood was part of this process.”

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Energy and Resources, David Southwick:
Let there be no mistake, it has always been Daniel Andrews’ plan to shut down the Hazelwood Power Station.
Labor tripled the tax on coal to rake in $252 million and is chasing a 40% renewable energy target. Closing Hazelwood is the next piece of Daniel Andrews’ ideological war against affordable and secure energy in favour of renewables.
Daniel Andrews made a promise to govern for all Victorians, but it’s clear he only cares about grabbing inner-city Green votes at the cost of all energy customers and over 1000 jobs in the Latrobe Valley.
Victorians are already struggling with cost of living pressures under Labor, and the closure of Hazelwood will mean increases in power bills of up to 25% according to analysis by Frontier Economics.
Daniel Andrews is a divisive Premier who puts politics ahead of people.
