Reports that Apex gang members inside the Melbourne Youth Justice Centre went on a wild rampage that forced staff to barricade themselves inside an office shows that Daniel Andrews has lost control of our prisons.
Staff at the centre have also reported that on Friday night, gang members in balaclavas had been outside the Parkville centre, letting off firecrackers and flares.
Prisoners have taken control and are running riot at these “secure” facilities.
Those guilty of this rampage should not qualify for parole as their violent behaviour indicates they have not rehabilitated.
At a time when Victorians are caught in a violent crime wave, prisons should be sending a clear message to convicted criminals that there is no excuse for this sort of behaviour.
It’s time Daniel Andrews laid down the law in these prison centres.
