Illegal guns flood Melbourne streets under the Andrews Government

Reports today that illegal handguns, semi-automatic rifles, shotguns, and even machine guns are flooding Melbourne streets are an indictment on Daniel Andrews’ lack of leadership in Victoria’s crime crisis.

Under Daniel Andrews, crime is up over 12% and gangs like Apex continue to terrorise the community with carjackings, drive-by shootings and home invasions.
Despite this shocking crime wave, Daniel Andrews has allowed police stations to close and the number of front line police at stations to be cut.

It has become clear that as a result of a Premier who is soft on crime, the community faces a growing number of emboldened offenders who have no respect for authority and no concern for the consequences of their actions.

The Andrews Government must provide Victoria Police with all necessary resources and legislative support to fight this insidious and illegal gun culture.

This is Melbourne, not the streets of Johannesburg. Daniel Andrews’ cuts to police resources and a soft approach to justice are endangering families.
