Shadow Minister for Industrial Relations, Robert Clark
Victorians face higher power bills if Daniel Andrews doesn’t stand up to the CFMEU on their latest demands.
Yet again, Victorians are facing the threat of strikes and higher prices because of huge union wage demands. This time, it’s the CFMEU moving to apply rolling stoppages and work bans at the Loy Yang power station.
Unions have seen that whenever they threaten a strike, the Andrews government buckles and pressures employers to give in to their demands. That’s what’s happened with tram drivers, train drivers and rail infrastructure workers. Now union expectations have been raised and the CFMEU are looking for huge pay increases that will simply make electricity more expensive for families and businesses.
Victorian families are already struggling to make ends meet; the last thing they want is higher power bills due to outrageous union wage demands.
The Andrews government needs to tell their CFMEU mates to drop their outrageous demands and sit down and negotiate a sensible outcome, instead of threatening power shortages and higher power bills for Victorian families.
