Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, Mary Wooldridge
The Andrews Labor Government is drawing more attention to its lack of transparency and accountability by refusing to take questions today in the Legislative Council.
Despite its promises before the last election that “under Labor, ministers will no longer be able to hide behind stuffy rules, waste time grandstanding or sneak through changes in the dead of night”, we have seen nothing but a secret state since the election.
Already the Andrews Labor Government has over 300 outstanding Freedom of Information requests and is refusing the request of the Legislative Council to produce other important documents in the interests of letting Victorians know how their tax dollars are spent.
Now, Labor are refusing to answer any questions in the Legislative Council, taking everything on notice.
This can only mean they are either incompetent and don’t know anything about their portfolio or they are wilfully not answering because they are committed to withholding information from Victorians.
This is about the Andrews Labor Government keeping its promise to Victorians to be transparent and accountable in government.
This is about Daniel Andrews not hiding important information from the Parliament, media and Victorians.
