Shadow Minister for Public Transport, David Hodgett
Today Public Transport Minister Jacinta Allan released a media statement that failed to mention myki once.
It’s simple, the Andrews Labor Government is so ashamed of myki, they’d rather just talk about the ways they’ll fine commuters.
The Andrews Labor Government’s major transport announcement for the day is they think they’ve found a way to more effectively fine commuters.
Commuters don’t want to hear about how they’ll be fined, they want to know what Daniel Andrews will demand when recontracting the system to fix it. Now is the time to make the important changes when recontracting for myki.
The Liberal Nationals Coalition would be looking to examine alternate ways to touch on such as credit cards or smart watches and the use of apps to top up credit.
It’s not good enough just to continue a contract with a company that built the $1.5 billion myki dog of a project, without getting substantial improvements.
