Shadow Attorney General, John Pesutto
The Andrews Labor Government is tying itself in knots with its own hypocrisy.
Chest beating by the Andrews Government today that it has passed legislation to strengthen the Ombudsman’s ability to oversee the public sector and hold it to a high standard is perhaps the worst example yet of Daniel Andrews’ hypocrisy.
Daniel Andrews is claiming that he is strengthening the Ombudsman’s investigative functions while his Government is in the Supreme Court trying to nobble the Ombudsman from investigating alleged rorting of taxpayer funds by the Labor Party to pay for its political campaigns.
Daniel Andrews has repeatedly claimed that Labor did not rort taxpayer money. If this is true, and Daniel Andrews is genuinely committed to integrity, transparency and a strong Ombudsman, then he should not have used taxpayer funds to try and block the Ombudsman’s investigative role.
