Statement on Government’s Organised Crime Prevention Pilot Program

The Liberal Nationals Coalition welcomes today’s adoption of its policy to ban cash sales of cars for scrap metal by the Government.
Crime in Victoria is up more than 8 per cent and on average more than 40 cars are stolen across the state every day, many by gangs looking to make a quick buck. This is a positive step forward but to put a stop to this stolen car trade Victoria needs a permanent ban not simply a temporary trial.
The adoption of this tougher policy is more proof that Jane Garrett is the only Andrews Government minister standing up for Victorians.
