Without any real community consultation, Vic Roads are cutting the number of lanes from six to four on the Mountain Highway through the Bayswater Shopping Village.
This work is being done in conjunction with the important project of removing two local level crossings.
Quotes attributable to Heidi Victoria, Member for Bayswater:
“Removing a lane in each direction on this busy road is going to cause havoc for local motorists and create even more traffic congestion.
Instead of building more roads, Daniel Andrews seems to be more interested in closing roads.
The buck stops with Daniel Andrews and it’s his responsibility to fix this mess his government has created.”
Quotes attributable to Ryan Smith, Shadow Minister for Roads:
“This is more evidence that Daniel Andrews hates motorists.
It’s a simple rule of physics that if you reduce the number of lanes you are going to slow the flow of traffic.
For Vic Roads to claim it won’t add to congestion is an insult to the intelligence of motorists and Daniel Andrews should read them the riot act for this blatant deception.”
