Evidence given at the Economy and Infrastructure Committee hearing at Parliament House today, revealed that Daniel Andrews’ friendless Sky Rail project is not subject to an Environmental Effects Statement.
It beggars belief that a construction three storeys high and several kilometres long, running through the middle of suburban Melbourne, fails to warrant an Environmental Effects Statement.
Despite Daniel Andrews’ failure to release sound impact studies from his noisy long distance elevated rail, his failure to release studies on the impact of elevated diesel exhaust fumes, his failure to release detailed vibration studies, his failure to undertake proper community consultation, and the obvious and massive visual impact of his unprecedented Sky Rail, he appears set to sign the Sky Rail contract this week.
Local community groups campaigning against Daniel Andrews’ botched Sky Rail project have already collected over 6,300 signatures petitioning against its construction. But despite this strong community opposition, Daniel Andrews continues to ride roughshod over the local community.
The Andrews Labor Government has torn up all reasonable, proper and lawful process and is playing political games with the community in the Caulfield to Dandenong rail corridor.
Just as concerning is that Daniel Andrews’ handpicked infrastructure boss, Richard Bolt, appears to be either out of the loop or complicit with Daniel Andrews in ramming through this cheap and nasty Sky Rail project.
This process has been a debacle from the start, with the community hoodwinked over an ugly, noisy Sky Rail that nobody voted for.
