Shadow Minister for Emergency Services Brad Battin
The Liberal/National Coalition welcome the production of 40 new tankers to better protect local communities, despite the delay by the Andrews Government.
More than 2 years ago the Coalition started trials, roadshows and gaining valuable feedback to ensure the best vehicles for those who will use them, local firefighters.
It is disappointing the Andrews Government has delayed the roll out considering the first of these trucks was due mid 2015. (http://news.cfa.vic.gov.au/news/new-tankers-by-the-truckload.html )
Volunteer and career fire fighters have patiently waited for the Coalition’s successful truck replacement program. The Andrews Government delayed its roll out while caught up with the political war between Daniel Andrews and the UFU.
The time spent defending the secret deals done prior to the state election should have been spent on delivering safer vehicles and equipment to the CFA and MFB on time.
Quotes attributed to Shadow Minister for Emergency Services Brad Battin:
“Daniel Andrews needs to end his war with fire fighters and deliver these improved trucks and equipment without further delay.
“The previous Coalition Government began this program’s process and will continue to support the introduction of these new trucks to local stations.”
