Shadow Attorney General, John Pesutto
Under Daniel Andrews the number of frontline police has decreased which means graffiti vandals and other offenders know they have a good chance of getting away with it.
With crime rates going through the roof in many parts of Melbourne, Daniel Andrews needs to wake up to the urgent need to address crime prevention and make our streets safer.
Vandalism like graffiti is at epidemic levels all across Melbourne which sends the wrong message to tourists.
If Daniel Andrews and Ben Carroll are so convinced their approach to graffiti is working then that is more evidence that they aren’t living in the real world.
Melbourne needs more police patrolling our streets to disrupt all potential criminal offenders including graffiti vandals.
The previous Coalition Government through its Minister for Crime Prevention took this matter seriously and invested $35 million in a Community Crime Prevention Program, which included Graffiti Prevention and Removal Grants, all on top of funding 1,900 extra police and 950 protective services officers.
