Today’s report that the Bendigo Special Development School has been cleared of any wrongdoing for locking children with disabilities in cages is shameful.
Managing children with a disability by locking them in cages belongs in a bygone era. It should have died with Charles Dickens.
That disabled children were locked in cages in the first place is appalling, and for a government inquiry to support it is outrageous. Locking children in cages is intolerable. It should never be allowed.
Education Minister James Merlino has totally failed to protect children with disabilities.
Daniel Andrews must step in and act where his Education Minister won’t.
