The Liberal Nationals Coalition is still reviewing the most recent draft of the legislation for the lease of the Port of Melbourne as well as consulting with key stakeholders to ensure the flaws of the government’s original proposal have been addressed.
Key stakeholders, including regional interests, will provide us with feedback by close of business tomorrow. From the feedback we will continue discussions with the government.
The Liberals National Coalition has been determined to secure significant funding for regional Victoria from any lease proceeds.
We assure regional Victorians that in these negotiations there will be no agreement by the Coalition unless the lease of the port is in the best interests of Victoria and that our proposal to secure around $700 million to regional Victoria for better roads, health and education is delivered.
