Shadow Minister for Public Transport, David Hodgett
Daniel Andrews and Jacinta Allan are failing Victorian transport users with their shambolic management of V/Line, timetable issues with Metro, no business case for Metro Rail Tunnel and their continued inaction on Uber.
Their total lack of leadership is why the Legislative Council is now likely to drive debate on legislation to regulate Uber in Victoria.
Victorians transport users, the taxi industry and the business community are frustrated by the Andrews Labor Government’s inactivity on this issue.
Daniel Andrews has now had over a year to provide certainty and stability to tens of thousands of Victorians who work in the taxi and ride sharing industry. His government is all talk and no action.
New services in the peer economy like Uber, Freelancer and Airbnb are a part of our economic future. Victoria cannot afford more indecision and time-wasting by Daniel Andrews. The state of Victoria can’t stop disruptive technological progress.
Melbourne is growing at nearly 2,000 people a week so smart solutions are needed for transport challenges and that is why the Liberal Nationals Coalition support the dual operation of both the taxi industry and Uber.
