Shadow Minister for Roads and Infrastructure, Ryan Smith
Reports that the Western Distributor will cost Victorians $30 billion shows that Daniel Andrews is rushing this important project and his mistakes will cost Victorians billions of dollars.
New roads in Melbourne are vitally important but we have to plan them properly. We can’t afford more Labor disasters like Myki and the desalination plant.
By increasing tolls on the Tulla and Monash to pay for the Western Distributor, Daniel Andrews is expecting motorists in the eastern and south-eastern suburbs to pay for a road in the west.
Daniel Andrews must release the full business case and stop hiding key details about what the road will really cost Victorians.
The Andrews Labor Government has already put the Victorian economy into deficit and increased debt. It’s time they stopped covering up their financial mismanagement and started telling Victorians the truth.
Daniel Andrews cost Victorians $1.1 billion when he scrapped the East West Link and now we see reports he wants to force an entire generation of drivers to pay up to $30 billion in tolls for his second-rate solution.
