State Member for Western Victoria, Joshua Morris MP
State Member for Western Victoria Joshua Morris MP has today called upon the Minister for Public Transport, Jacinta Allan, to appear as a witness to an inquiry into the ongoing disruptions that have significantly impacted upon Victoria’s regional rail network.
Mr Morris said that a hearing into V/Line’s recent decline in performance will be held as part of the ongoing inquiry into Infrastructure Projects at Parliament House on the 9th February 2016.
Following the resignation of V/Line Chief Executive Theo Taifalos, it is now appropriate that the committee hears an explanation directly from the Minister.
“Theo Taifalos was scheduled to appear before the Committee to discuss the ongoing problems plaguing regional public transport passengers,” Mr Morris said.
“It is now vital that we hear from someone in a senior position, who has been responsible for V/Line throughout this ongoing crisis.”
Mr Morris will move a notice of motion in the Upper House to formally request the Minister appear before the Economy and Infrastructure Committee to give evidence and answer questions in relation to the committee’s ongoing inquiry.
The Economy and Infrastructure Standing Committee’s functions are to inquire into and report on any proposal, matter or thing concerned with agriculture, commerce, infrastructure, industry, major projects, public sector finances, transport and education.
