It is disgraceful that nine months after deciding to dump an extra 42 beds and 4 theatres for Victorians with cancer, Daniel Andrews still hasn’t worked out what to do with Floor 13 of the VCCC.
In choosing an empty floor instead of 42 extra beds for Victorians with cancer, Daniel Andrews has shown that ideology matters more than patient care.
Documents tabled in the Legislative Council in December prove that the Andrews Government was repeatedly warned that dumping Peter Mac Private would jeopardise millions of dollars of pledged donations for public facilities in the VCCC building. Daniel Andrews should come clean and confirm whether this has happened.
Daniel Andrews also needs to explain whether the VCCC building project has been changed in any way as a result of lost donations.
