Shadow Minister for Police, Edward O’Donohue
The Coalition values the work of Victorian Police and PSOs and we support the terms of the new pay deal.
Unlike some other unions in the last 12 months, the Police Association has been sensible and has achieved a good outcome for their members.
However, Daniel Andrews still hasn’t delivered more police numbers. At a time when crime rates are up, police numbers are down and police stations are being forced to close their doors.
Police stations in areas such as Pakenham, Mooroolbark, Reservoir, Ashburton, Somerville, Greensborough, Epping and Craigieburn have had to reduce their opening hours because of a lack of funding from Daniel Andrews.
If Daniel Andrews hadn’t wasted over $1.1 billion on tearing up the East West Link contract he could have built 80 brand new police stations or employed hundreds of new police throughout Victoria.
