Shadow Minister for Industry, Ryan Smith
Daniel Andrews’ media event on the unfunded Western Distributor proposal is a deliberate distraction from the controversies and chaos engulfing his government.
So far today we have seen two of Daniel Andrews’ political allies before the courts supported by other high profile unionists such as Ged Kearney and Luba Grigorovich and a protest of around 5,000 CFMEU members bringing Melbourne streets to a halt.
Shortly afterwards, around 2,000 Firefighters marched onto Spring Street with mobile billboards attacking Daniel Andrews.
Also today, a cross party inquiry into the sale of the Port of Melbourne has released its recommendations on improving Daniel Andrews’ proposed legislation for the sale of the Port of Melbourne. The report made it clear that Labor’s proposed sale of the Port needs substantial change for it to be in the interest of Victorians and its recommendations also reflect serious industry and stakeholder concerns with Daniel Andrews’ proposal.
Daniel Andrews’ announcement today about the unfunded Western Distributor is a sad attempt to try to distract the media’s attention from his chaotic, dysfunctional government.
