Shadow Minister for Industrial Relations, Robert Clark
When asked about expelling the CFMEU from the Labor Party, Daniel Andrews this morning claimed it would be inappropriate for him to comment on an issue before the courts.
However, questions about the appropriateness of the relationship between the Labor Party and the CFMEU are not a matter before the courts. These are questions of leadership and integrity.
Whenever Daniel Andrews is under pressure and wants to avoid answering questions, his habit is to tell journalists that he won’t offer a “running commentary” on the issue. That’s not leadership.
Daniel Andrews has stood by John Setka and the CFMEU for far too long but it’s now time for him to stop taking their donations and expel them from the Labor Party.
Daniel Andrews should have thrown John Setka and the CFMEU out of the Labor Party a long time ago and recent events just add to the need to act.
