Shadow Assistant Treasurer, Gordon Rich-Phillips
On 8 April 2014, the former Coalition Government announced a $40 million package to fix mobile blackspots and deliver free Wi-Fi on a number of V/Line Services. (Source: media release)
The $40 million was included in the 2014/15 State Budget (Source: Budget paper 3, pages 48 & 54).
Jacinta Allan has shelved plans for Wi-Fi on regional trains despite it being budgeted for, under the former Coalition Government.
Comments attributable to Shadow Assistant Treasurer Gordon Rich-Phillips:
Regional Victorians are paying the price for Daniel Andrews’ decision to waste almost a billion dollars not to build the East West Link.
Daniel Andrews has not only cut the Country Roads and Bridges Program but now he’s betraying regional Victoria once again by pulling funding on Wi-Fi on V/line trains.
Daniel Andrews and Jacinta Allan must come clean to regional Victorian commuters on where this money is being redirected to.
