Shadow Treasurer, Michael O’Brien
Today’s jobs figures show that the New South Wales economy continues to power ahead under Premier Mike Baird while Victoria’s economy is still drifting under Daniel Andrews.
According to the ABS, an extra 131,454 full-time jobs have been created in New South Wales over the past ten months while just 4,429 full-time jobs have been created in Victoria over the same period.
Before the election Daniel Andrews promised to create 100,000 new full-time jobs in two years.
At the 10 month mark, Daniel Andrews should have created 41,667 full-time jobs. He is currently 37,238 full-time jobs short and over 95,000 jobs short of the two year target.
The Victorian economy is drifting under Daniel Andrews while New South Wales has become the powerhouse of the national economy with strong jobs growth that puts Daniel Andrews to shame.
With a budget in deficit, increasing debt, a ballooning East West Link compensation cost and a failing jobs plan, Victorians are paying the price for Daniel Andrews’ economic failures.
