Today’s ABS Labour force figures for August 2015 showed:
• 7,800 full-time jobs lost since December 2014 when Daniel Andrews came to office
• 18,600 full-time jobs lost between July and August 2015
• Participation rate dropped by 0.5% between July and August 2015 – fewer people looking for jobs in Victoria was the reason for the change in the unemployment rate.
Comments attributed to Shadow Treasurer Michael O’Brien:
Under Daniel Andrews, Victoria has lost 7,800 full-time jobs while New South Wales has seen over 90,000 full-time jobs created.
On a day of terrible news on full-time job losses and strike action by tram drivers and taxi drivers, we see Daniel Andrews out being a spectator around V8 racing cars.
Daniel Andrews needs to get out of neutral and put this state into gear. The wheels are spinning but the state’s not moving under a Labor leader who’s more a passenger than a driver of full-time jobs.
Daniel Andrews doesn’t have a plan to create jobs, all he has is a plan to create new public holidays and put new taxes on businesses.
