In a speech to the Energy User’s Association of Australia, ACCC chairman Rod Sims blasted Labor’s ban on conventional onshore gas in Victoria, says Shadow Minister for Energy and Resources, David Southwick.
Mr Sims identified the ban has lead Victorian households and businesses to be “exposed to higher and more volatile domestic prices”.
With Victorian households paying $500 more for gas since June 2016, Labor’s stubborn refusal to overturn its onshore gas ban means there is no end to the price pain in sight.
Labor needs to listen to industry, regulators and consumers and drop its ideological onshore gas ban to reduce cost of living pressures and avoid gas shortages this coming winter.
Daniel Andrews has his head in the sand on energy and has no plan to ease the skyrocketing power prices all Victorians are paying.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Energy and Resources, David Southwick:
“Victorian households are paying $500 more for gas under Labor – when will Daniel Andrews get it and drop his ideological ban on onshore gas?
“With winter upon us, Daniel Andrews is making it harder for Victorians to heat their homes and put food on the table.
“Only a Matthew Guy Government will overturn Labors ideological gas ban, lower energy prices and ease cost of living pressures for all Victorians.”
