In April this year, Matthew Guy and Louise Staley committed $32 million to extend V/Line Passenger services on the Maryborough line.

The Liberal policy will ensure passenger services will return to not only Dunolly but to St Arnuad and Donald.

Jacinta Allan’s ‘announcement’ to allow passenger services to Dunolly is full of weasel words and is just smoke and mirrors.

The fact is the government could already run a service on the existing dual gauge line from Maryborough to Dunolly but they won’t.

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Public Transport, David Davis:

If Daniel Andrews and Jacinta Allan wanted they could return passenger services from Maryborough to Dunolly tomorrow on the existing dual gauge connection.

For nearly four years Labor have ignored regional rail and this community, Louise Staley has worked hard to ensure these services will return to Ripon.

This is just a stunt without any actual outcome.

Comments attributable to Member for Ripon, Louise Staley:

Only a Guy Government will ensure services will run all the way to Donald and upgrade all the stations along the way to bring more towns onto our country rail network.

We’ve committed the funding and it will be one of the first things we will do in a Guy Government.

The choice is clear. Locals can choose our plan to provide services that run all the way to Donald and upgrade all the stations along the way to bring more towns onto our country rail network or they can choose Daniel Andrews and Labor’s media stunt and empty promises.
