WHILE Daniel Andrews dithers, the men and women of Victoria Police continue to be attacked and put at risk, says Shadow Minister for Police Edward O'Donohue.
Revelations yesterday that police in Geelong were allegedly targeted and rammed again highlights the failure of Daniel Andrews to deliver the deterrence required to stop these shocking attacks.
Under Daniel Andrews, there have now been more than 230 rammings of police car incidents.
The Police Association Secretary Wayne Gatt said earlier this year:
"Legislative amendment is needed now to send the strongest possible message to offenders that if you threaten or assault a police officer, or engage in behaviour like this then you are going to have plenty of time to reflect on it from a police cell."
Despite this in August, Daniel Andrews voted down Opposition legislation to create a new offence of ramming a police car with a two-year statutory minimum.
How many more police need to be attacked and injured before Daniel Andrews does something?
Daniel Andrews and his soft on crime government are failing those who put their lives at risk to protect the community, the men and women of Victoria Police.
Only the Liberal Nationals Coalition have a comprehensive plan to support our police and tackle the crime tsunami engulfing Victoria that Daniel Andrews has failed to prevent.
